UQCC Friendly Simultaneous Online Chess with IM ANGELO YOUNG

Young at heart and a beast on the board. At present, he is the 15th strongest player in the Philippines, trailing behind Cris Ramayrat by 10 rating points. The United Queens Chess Club introduces International Master Angelo Young, representing the Philippine flag.

Before he decided to relocate to Chicago, he was known as the Philippine Jr. Champion, which he won in 1982. A feat to boast of: IM Young received all three international norms all in the USA in a span of only 21 days way back in the 90s. Based in the USA for more than 15 years, he made Filipinos proud as he continued to shine amidst tough competition in America, where the cream of the crop is gathered. Starting in 1994, he became an eight-time winner of the Illinois State Chess Championship, held every year with almost a hundred players from different states. He is also a two-time MVP under the team of Chicago Blaze in the United States Chess League. Still actively participating as a coach and player, he joined the 2019 National Senior Category tournament and reigned as the champion against the eleven players with a near-perfect score of 10 points out 11 held here in the Philippines. He took the chance again to fight once more at an international standard at the World Senior Chess Championship under 50 category. There, more than 15 Grandmasters, 10 IMs and 10 FMs assembled to fight for the win. Despite not finishing in the podium spots, he successfully beat eight grandmasters with a performance rating of 2499, a rating befitting of a grandmaster title.

A well-experienced chess master has come.
